• Banca Comercială Română continues in force the process of modernizing its bank branches
  • 28 BCR units across the country will become cashless, other 58 will be fully optimized, and the bank will open other 7 new agencies
  • BCR will invest EUR 50 million by 2020 in the territorial network of units

Bucharest, 4 January 2017 – The process of modernizing BCR network of units marks on 4 January 2018 a new phase, with the transformation of 28 bank branches across the country into cashless subsidiaries, fully functional from the first working day of the new year.

BCR network will thus have 41 cashless branches, and their number will grow to 125 during 2018. At the same time, BCR will open this year 7 new Financial Dialogue Center branches, and other 58 will be modernized, based on a total investment of EUR 50 million within the next two years.

"Modernizing the network of units is an essential component of our retail strategy. The entire architecture of the new BCR branches, including the concept of cashless agencies, was developed taking into account the proposals coming from our customers and in close relation with the development strategy of Erste Group. Through the full migration of the current cash operations to multifunctional electronic machines, we will be able to offer, first of all, a new experience in cashless agencies. We can talk about a much closer, more open financial dialogue, dedicated to each customer, in which the premise of discussions starts from needs, personal and professional objectives. The fact that BCR has invested in the largest network of cash withdrawal and payment machines in Romania, over 2,500, offering since 2015 gratuity to individuals using cash withdrawals at the automatic equipment, today gives us the possibility to take an important step in what the process of serving customers means. We have a responsibility in making available a fair cash management, as Romania remains yet a country where cash operations predominate, without preventing us from being the number 1 bank in providing both cash and non-cash services nationwide", Dana Demetrian, Retail & Private Banking BCR Vice-President, has stated.

In each of the 33 BCR cashless units, customers will be able to carry out current banking operations thanks to the two types of state-of-the-art equipment installed:

  • MFM - Multifunctional Machines allowing a wide range of operations
  • APT - BCR Automated Payment Terminal intended for individuals, through which cash withdrawals and invoice payments can be performed.

Find below the extended list of operations available through MFM and APT, as well as the list of 28 cashless branches available starting with 4 January 2018.
