Import Documentary Collection

The Import Documentary Collection is an unguaranteed method of payment, by which you, acting as importer, come into the possession of goods only against payment.

  • As importer, you will only pay the merchandise once the received documents, such as: invoices, insurance certificates, bills of lading, a.s.o., are those pre-established under the underlying commercial contract
  • From cash-flow perspectives, Documentary collections are ideal for transactions that encompass monitoring of proceeds
  • Usually, they are used in consolidated commercial relationships, with reliable partners, whereby you wish to exercise a certain degree of control
  • If you are seeking additional protection, you can consider using an Import Letter of Credit
  • They involve smaller costs than the documentary letter of credit, but you will not benefit of the banks undertaking to pay

Description

How does the Import Documentary Collection work:
